Position Summary
Under the direction of the Snow School Supervisor, the Little Cubs Attendant will be the point of contact for the Little Cubs program, located at the Pass Powderkeg Lions Den Yurt. The Little Cubs Attendant will supervise children, assist in the smooth running of the young children’s programming, play games and facilitate ski lessons with guests, be responsible for signing children in and out of the program as well as basic cleaning of the facility. This role is integral for the guest experience in the program. |
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Be responsible for the children and provide a high standard of care for children.

Sign children in and out of the program.

Assist children in getting ready for their on-snow lessons.

Play and create fun games for children that are appropriate for age and ability.

Pre-group preparation and post-program clean up.

Demonstrate passion for nature and the outdoors and respect for the environment.

Motivate and encourage participants.

Maintain a high level of customer service.

Be punctual to program start times.

Interact with participants before programs.

Lead according to ability, age and stamina level of participants.

Use proper terrain and lesson plans for effective learning.

Provide a fun and interactive learning environment.

Recognize changing snow and weather conditions and understand how they may affect programming.

Maintain a safe environment at all times within the yurt and within the play area. Perform emergency procedures in case of accidents

Completes daily paperwork as required including accident report completion if required

Set an example in customer service and must have good knowledge of the services offered on the mountain and the fine details of the different products that are for sale through Pass Powderkeg

Perform other duties as required (e.g. shoveling, snow fencing etc…).
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Have a passion for working with children
- Proven guest service skills: charismatic, well-spoken, clear communicator, responsible, reliable and mature
- Willingness to learn new childminding techniques and strategies.
- Experience as a group leader
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly and confidently in public
- Proven safety awareness and problem-solving skills
- Ability to ski or snowboard is an asset
Education and Experience
This position requires the following minimum qualifications:

Experience working with children of various ages, preferably in a nature or outdoor setting.

A clean criminal and vulnerable sector record due to work with vulnerable guests.

Current first aid training including CPR, and AED
The following Training/Certification would be an asset:

Early childhood development certification

CSIA/CASI certification is an asset

Post-secondary education in education, childhood development, outdoors, or tourism an asset
Working Conditions
The work is performed both indoors and outdoors with some snow work expected. Indoor work is typically performed in the yurt involving periods of teaching, playing, sitting, and standing. Outdoor work is performed in all weather conditions, including cold, wind, snow and rain. The work is occasionally physically strenuous and regularly requires the incumbent to ski/snowboard, bend, kneel and carry equipment.
